We Will We Will Rock You. Freddie's Coming Back
No this is not about a new Freddy Kruger movie. No this is not about about the musical by Ben Elton that was a huge success. This is about the biography that has been buzzing in Hollywood about the life and times of Freddie Mercury and his band Queen. Of course you know the band Queen. I don't care if you are 15 or 50, everyone has heard at least one of their tunes in their lifetime. Come on Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are The Champions, Somebody To Love. Everyone has heard the larger then life muscial numbers by one of the most glam rock men ever to grace the music scene. However, Freddy was tragically struck down by the AIDS virus and lost his battle in 1991. So who is going to be playing the highly animated lead singer of one of the greatest bands ever? The buzz is swirling that the part has gone to Sacha Baron Cohen. Yes Borat himself. But before you go oh great, look at the factors that may have influenced the studios decision. Never once have you actually known who the real Sacha is. With his multiple characters never looking anything like him (Borat, Bruno, Ali G) we have never known ever detail about his personal life and therefore have never looked at him thinking, "oh he got caught shoplifting while doing blow while punching out a papparazzi, yeah this is exactly like his life why am I watching this movie." The man sure knows how to act with audiences embracing the many characters he has portrayed and the many disguises that he takes on. The only time he has ever looked himself was in Sweeney Todd where Tim Burton knew that the actor could take on a pivatol role in the film, and show off his singing chops. Thats not the only thing, look at Sacha and then look at a picture of Freddie Mercury. The man looks so similar that make-up is not going to have a difficult time. The dude is a great character actor so this may be Sacha's time to shine in a role that many people will hopefully embrace and enjoy the musical stylings of Freddy. The biography will delve into the back story of Freddie and his association with Queen. No director has been rumoured yet, but I for one want to know if this is going to ROCK or dye a sad death on delivery like a Amy Whinehouse concert.
