Poor Jerry. There Is Always Next Year
It just wasn't ultra producer extraordinaire Jerry Bruckheimer's this year or last. As you may not be aware, Jerry Bruckheimer is one of the most successful producers in television and especially movies history. You may not know the name but he has made some movies that you must have seen (if not where have you been living?). His movies in the late 90's and early noughties have made billions at the box office. Con Air, The Rock, Armageddon, Bad Boys, Pear Harbour, Pirates of the Caribbean just to name a few. He gave us big action movies, with little storyline, but who cared the action was fast, the explosions big, and that is what a Bruckheimer movie was all about. Just enjoying cinema for a few hours and not thinking much of it afterwards (just like a big night out, oh how I miss my youth). But what has happened to the man with the golden touch? Here is where it has started going downhill. Poor Jerry thought I will make millions if I team my name up with everything Disney. Putting Disney before everyone of my movies will appeal to a larger audience due to the name. But unfortunately that has not been the case. Jerry's movies have hardly broken any box office records and are having trouble claiming their money back. This year alone his movies have flopped. Prince of Persia failed big time, with the movie not really appealing to anyone. Only making $85 million at the American Box Office not even claiming back half of its budget. Then there was the Sorcerer's Apprentice which got good reviews, but was not the next hit Disney/Bruckheimer was hoping to spawn a franchise. Then there was the lame G-Force (come on Guinea pig secret agents, really are kids that stupid?) which tanked, Confession of a Shopaholic that didn't get the viewing it should have, and the last Pirate Movie don't get me started (what in the world was that about). Well Jerry I think the mouse name has clearly destroyed your business. I would get out of my contract big time if I was you or you may want to start thinking about retiring. You need to get your edge back and bring the audience what they want to see. Action, big and dumb. Look at what worked this year. Action movies. Big dumb action movies. It's time to come home Jerry. Come back to the dark side and produce heartless pictures at least they will pay your bills.
