The New Breed Of Hollywood Actresses
Today I thought I would give you a bit of insight into the new who is who in young Hollywood and who you should take notice of cause the studios sure are. We all remember when Sandra Bullock, Hilary Swank, Anne Hathaway, Cameron Diaz and many more broke out and became bono fide box office stars. I know some of these actresses have been around for a while but it's really now they are getting the parts they deserve and are showing off that they are more versatile than past parts gave them credit for. Let's start with the women and I'm sorry but I am not putting Kristen Stewart on this list. She may have been in the box office hit the Twilight series, but man is she just so damn annoying.
Mila Kunis - Mila started out on That 70's Show as Jackie the annoying girlfriend of Ashton Kutcher. But due to her smart movie choices has become one of my favourite new actresses to break the big screen. Who knew under that irritating show she really was a interesting actress. Don't believe me check out Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Date Night, Book Of Eli and the movie she is getting rave reviews in Black Swan. Told you she was on her way.
Kristen Bell - Kristen started out in the shortlived but interesting and clever show Veronica Mars. Although the show seemed to be a little too smart for its audience about a private detective in high school the show was axed after only three seasons. But it seems every movie today is staring Kristen Bell. Gaining bigger attention in the hilarious Forgetting Sarah Marshall, she will soon be seen alongside Cher in Burlesque, will act with the greats Sigourney Weaver and Jamie Lee Curtis in You Again and will even be harassed by Mr Ghost Face himself in Scream 4.
Amanda Seyfried - Amanda was the scene stealer in Mean Girls playing the dumb but lovable Karen. Who knew she would be the breakout star of that film (we all know what happened to Lindsay). Well Amanda went on to really show her acting chops (and singing for that matter) against the greatest actress of all time Meryl Streep in Mama Mia. The film was a smash and made Amanda receive the attention she deserved. She followed it up with the love stories Dear John and Letters to Juliet, tried her hands with the smart thriller Chloe and will soon be seen in another thriller taking on a new take of the classic story Red Riding Hood. Keep going Amanda you are on a role.
Ellen Page - Ellen became the pin up girl for the repressed (but ever so hilarious) teen in the surprise box office hit Juno playing the title character. Before she was Juno, she scared older men everywhere with her turn in Hard Candy (rent it you wont forget her in that one). Ellen quickly followed it up in the underrated comedy Whip It as well as Smart People. I was a bit worried about Ms Page, as much as I loved her in all of these movies, girl was playing the same character over and over. It was not until this year's huge box office hit Inception that little Ellen had grown into a real actress with more depth than delivering witty banter. Placing her in one of the films major roles against the likes of Leo Dicaprio, Ellen sure held her own. Up next will be Peacock with Susan Sarandon and Super alongside Liv Tyler and my classic favourite actor Kevin (cutaa cutta Footloose) Bacon.
Emma Stone - I love this chick. She is one very funny girl. You may not know the name but you really need to check out her breakout role in Easy A. She held her own and made the movie hit all the right ingredients in my book. Check it out, it's fantastic. Not only did Emma turn in a hilarious effort in Easy A, before then she stole the show in Zombieland alongside Woody Harrelson and started to show her comedic stylings in House Bunny and Superbad. Up next for Emma will be Crazy, Stupid, Love alongside Steve Carell and Julianne Moore as well as Friends With Benefits.
Welcome to the new breed of Hollywood actresses. Embrace them. You may not know them right now, but check them out, you sure will.
