Face Huggers. Chests Bursting. Acid For Blood. It Could Only Mean One Thing. Mr Big Bad ALIEN Is Back
When Ridley Scott's Alien came out in 1979, audiences witnessed one of the scariest movie villians in history. His name was Alien and he had razor sharp teeth, quick reflexes, and acid for blood. It was unlike anything audiences had seen in their movie seeing life. It became a huge hit and made a star of Sigourney Weaver (I think if she likes it or not, she is always going to be known as Ripley kick ass chick number one). A few years later it was followed by its successor Aliens directed by a relative newcomer James Cameron (you can't say that about him anymore). It was later followed by the mangled Alien3 and spawned a new direction for the whole franchise in Alien Reserrecution. The franchise really was losing what first made it appealing, and don't get me started on the Alien vs Predator movies, (what were you thinking 20th Century Fox). But now it may all be a thing of the past and the damage may be mended with the buzz being that the original director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Thelma and Louise) is back on board to direct the new movie which will be set before any of the events occurred before the first film. Okay you know the franchise is pretty dead when they go back in time to start the story again. Yes this one is going to be a prequal. Star Wars did it. So to is X-Men so why not the Alien franchise? Nothing yet on what the story will be about or if they will focus once again on Ripley but a name has been buzzing around who may be the lead actress. Gemma Arterton of Prince Of Persia, Clash Of The Titans, and the last James Bond movie has been rumoured to be scoring the title role. I feel she could definitely be up to the challenge. She can definitely carry herself on screen and also being already familiar with the action scene, Arterton could handle her self for the big action stunts that are bound to evolve from this film. Lets hope they bring all the right ingredients back to the franchise as it is a story that deserves to be told. Go for it Ridley. Do your thing.
