There are certain female kick ass action chicks who will forever be remembered for their tough ass take no prisoner attitudes. Ripley started the trend in Alien and then confirmed it with Aliens. Sarah Conner proved that a cyborg could bring out the killer in anyone and Lara Croft showed that a sexy chick did not have to stick to a stereotype but could prove that she was as tough as the boys. But there is one actress you might not think of when you think of action hero. That person would be the acclaimed actress Helen Mirren. Yes you heard right, Helen Mirren. The actress who won an Oscar for playing the Queen and who is usually portrayed in classic films. But coming this October, Helen may prove how versatile an actress she really is with her new movie, "Red." Red tells the story of a bunch of assassins who are past their prime and are now living in retirement. However, when a certain threat compromises there mission and identities it is up to Frank Moses to bring the team together and bring their nemesis down. The movie also stars the excellent Bruce Willis, the actor who I think never sleeps Samuel L. (Mr. Cool himself) Jackson, Morgan (I could read the Yellow Pages and still make it interesting) Freeman, Richard Dreyfuss, Brian Cox and Julian McMahon. The movie will be directed by Robert Schwentke who made the intense Flightplan and one of the most confusing movies I have ever seen The Time Travelor's Wife. But seeing a picture of Helen Mirren holding a machine gun has made me stand up and pay attention to this one. The woman looks bad ass. Trust me on this. Show them what you got Ms Mirren. Red opens 28 October (Australia).
