Claustrophobic? You May Want To Steer Clear Of This One?
Ryan Reynolds is starting to become a bit of a movie star of late. He is a deverse actor who seems to be able to handle the many genres that the movie studios throw at him. He can tackle action with "Wolverine." He is a talented comedian when given the right material to show off his talent as proven in "The Proposal." Ryan can even scare the crap out of audiences with turns in horror movies like "The Amityville Horror." But now he is going to be put through his paces as he is going to be proving if he can pull off a thriller with "Buried." And this is where you may want to stay clear of this one if you have a fear of tiny spaces as Ryan spends most of the movie six feet under in a coffin for the duration of the movie. So why is he in a coffin (no it is not another vampire movie, enough Hollywood enough)? The story of "Buried" is about Ryan who plays Paul who is living and working over in Iraq. When a group of Iraqis attack, Paul wakes up to find himself buried in the desert with nothing but a lighter and a mobile phone. Time is ticking and the air is going. Will Paul be found? Will Ryan be able to carry this picture by himself (I really hope so, I think Ryan is becoming a must watch movie star)? The buzz at the film festivals is that this movie is very intense, absorbing and you will be clutching your diet pepsi so tight you might want to bring a raincoat in case you spill it on yourself from the tension. This reviewer will definitly be checking it out. Buried opens 7 October (Australia).
