Back in 1996 a little film came out that made a killing at the box office, put Will Smith in A List territory and gave use the immortal line, "Today is our Independence Day." Yes it was Independance Day. The story about an alien attack on the world that saw humans fight back and win the race against the aliens. It's a guilty pleasure that many people still enjoy (yes I would be one of them). Fast forward 14 years and I have a feeling Hollywood may have forgotten that most of us have not died or had our memories erased as we all remember this movie, because a new movie coming out later in the year is copying the exact premise. The movie is called "Skyline." And here is the premise, and this is for real. A group of huge spaceships are hovering over the country when the decide to come down on many of the city's in USA. They are out for revenge and will destory the human race at any cost. Umm isn't that the plot of Independence Day? Are we really that stupid? There had better be a big twist in this movie because the movie going public is not going to flock to a movie that they can rent at Blockbuster for $3. Also, there are no big stars in this and I am highly optimistic that anyone is going to come out of this one as big of a star like Big Willy. At least call it a remake or something and get away with it like so many other movies, (I'm looking at you Nightmare On Elm Street, what the heck was that). Good luck guys, I just hope a alien has a amnesia ray and shoots it over mankind because that is the only way anyone is going to think this is an original idea.
