I have to admit I am a sucker for a big loud over the top action films. Die Hard, Terminator, anything with big explosions I am in. But the day of the 80's action star is well and truly over. But there is one action star who still tries and brings the old school charm back. I'm talking about Dwayne (The Rock, but don't call him that now, he is a serious actor) Johnson. Rocking us (pun intended people) in action movies such as Welcome To The Jungle, Scorpian King, Doom, Walking Tall, Dwayne brings the action hard and fast. And it is about time he comes back to his genre after awful, terrible and I will say shit crap family roles including the Tooth Fairy (what were you thinking) and The Game Plan. Someone explain to me why action stars think they should fair into family comedy (I'm looking at you Vin Diseal) it is just not right. Like socks with thongs, it should be illegal. But Dwayne is coming back to punch some bad guys in the face, break a few bones and drive a really cool car in his new movie "Faster." Faster tells the story of Driver (Dwayne) who after a double crossing which has resulted in brother's death, takes revenge on those who wronged him (I think I just peed a bit with excitement). You can just tell what is going to be instore. And I can't wait. The movie also stars Billy Bob Thornton, Maggie Grace, Carla Gugino, Jennifer Carpenter and Moon Bloodgood. I for one am going to be strapping myself in for this one. Welcome back Dwayne. Finally you have come to your senses. Faster opens early 2011 (Australia)
