Is "Easy A" Going To Be The "Mean Girls" of 2010?

Have you heard about the new movie staring Emma Stone? You know the hillarious chick who stood her own against Anna Faris in House Bunny, and stole the movie away from everyone in Zombieland? Well she is staring in what could be the breakout comedic role of her career "Easy A." Easy A follows the story of Olive who starts rumours about herself to advance her social status in high school. Also staring Stanley Tucci (is this guy in everything lately, but i'm not complaining), Amanda Bynes (another underrated comedic genius, watch She's The Man and laugh yourself silly) Penn Badgley (please be not as annoying as you are in Gossip Girl) and everyone's favourite friend Lisa Kudrow. But does Easy A have everything to make it this year's Mean Girls? I think it could be. Sounds like a great cast of actors who can step up to the plate as we have witnessed in many of their own movies. It centres itself in one of the most awkward environments in anyone's life, high school, which is where comedy comes to life (see Mean Girls, Clueless, Superbad for examples). The ingredients are there, lets just hope it doesn't go down the same path as "I Love You Beth Cooper" (didn't see it, neither did much of the population). I for one will be standing in line for this one waiting to see if Emma Stone can pull this off. Otherwise, it may be time for Emma to look for a new agent.
